A long time ago, before affiliate marketing was even a word, public schools were said to teach the 3 Rs.Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic. Okaythe spelling was a little whacko but that is what was said to be taught in the public school system.

These subjects represent the very basics of an education. The ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide was the foundation of education when the three Rs were taught. Now that we have online affiliate marketing, we also have a new set of R's!

Affiliate marketers do, of course, need to know the basics of education as well. They need to be able to read, write and understand basic mathematical concepts. But the three Rs that affiliate marketers need to become proficient at if they are to become successful are as follows:

The three affiliate marketing Rs are; Research, Relevance and Return on Investment (ROI).

Research: Affiliate marketers do a lot of research in order to be successful. They research the product demand of a market to determine the size of a possible customer base. They also research the affluence of that customer base.

They know that wanting something and buying something are two different things. A lot of people want things that they cant afford, so the ability to buy a product is just as important as the desire to own the product. Successful affiliate marketers also research the effectiveness of keywords and phrases and well as the buying habits of their prospective customer base.

Relevance: Relevance has everything to do with everything in the world of affiliate marketing. Products must be relevant to the market they are advertised in, and advertising must be relevant to the people that the advertisements are directed at.

According to Wikipedia.com: Relevance is how pertinent, connected, or applicable some information is to a given matter. Every aspect of successful affiliate marketing must be relevant to each and every other step.

Return on Investment (ROI): Here is one statistic that matters a lot! It ranks right up there with the old aRithmetic R. The basic formula is Profit Cost. Understanding ROI is an absolutely vital part of successful affiliate marketing.

There are, of course, many things working together that create a successful affiliate marketing endeavor. The three Rs of affiliate marketing arent all that there is to success, but they form the base from which an affiliate marketing business can grow.
